Elena Haskins

Elena was an excellent mentor during the course. She went out of her way to create an inclusive environment for asking questions, practicing course material, and working through complex concepts as a group or individually.

I am incredibly grateful for the guidance and insightful feedback I received from Elena during the OOUX certification. Her expertise in object-oriented UX helped me refine my understanding of the methodology, and the constructive critiques challenged me to think more deeply about the design process. Elena was always patient, approachable, and provided valuable advice that significantly improved my work. Additionally, when unexpected challenges caused me to fall behind in the course, Elena was always there to offer support and guidance. She was prompt with her feedback, ensuring I had the insights I needed before moving on to the next assignments, which helped me avoid rework and stay on track

My mentor was very beneficial to the success of this course and was always available to share her knowledge when I needed clarification and additional guidance throughout the design challenge. She was very responsive to individual chats and assignment feedback. She even stayed on a mentor call over the allotted time to ensure I was in a good place to continue on assignments! ----In the first half of the class, I was beginning to recognize junction objects before the lesson about them, which caused me a lot of confusion. It stemmed from the rule about having only five objects. Knowing the differences between cutting for scope/focus and cutting because it's not needed would have been helpful to know sooner. I hadn't put that piece of the picture together at that time and was trying to follow the five-object rule. During prioritization, my mentor helped me have some significant ah-ha moments where I could better comprehend her feedback on consolidating objects and still achieving all the brief's goals.

Elena was amazing! I can't say enough wonderful things about her feedback. She was thoughtful, thorough, and she really made me think about each assignment. Elena is also active in the OOUX community and is genuinely excited about presenting this content, which came through in every interaction I had with her.Above and beyond: I missed an appointment with Elena because my daughter was very ill. It was the first major virus she had since being diagnosed with diabetes. I felt horrible and apologized. Elena was not only gracious about me missing our appointment, for our next session she came up with an entire lesson on junction objects based on diabetes and insulin management that really helped me to understand the concept. I was really touched by this. What a superstar of a mentor!
