Steph was supportive and encouraging throughout. Our one-on-one sessions were helpful in keeping me moving through the assignments and thinking about how OOUX applies to my current work and my future career growth. I also appreciated her scheduling some pod check-ins at the start and end of the cohort.
I was fortunate to get Steph as my mentor! She always provided clear and thoughtful feedback on my projects... as well as instilled a calm confidence that "I can do this!", which was incredibly helpful to me on this journey. I also really enjoyed our 1:1 sessions where she provided additional guidance and her own experiences and challenges.
Helped me narrow down some complex stuff early, as it helped lock in concepts better and I also didn't have a ton of time to spend on assignments with work and life so this help really helped me!
Steph was really thoughtful and kind in her feedback to me, even when I asked a million questions or got confused. Her notes were always clear and I understood how to make improvements to my assignment. She was also forgiving when I messed up our 1:1 meeting times! I wish I'd had more time in my personal life to take advantage of her mentorship but really appreciate what she was able to give me async. Steph is also very encouraging!
I was only OOUX-certified for a year before I applied to the Advanced certification, so I had worried that I would be diving into it too soon, but I'm so glad I did it anyway. Supporting learners and giving them feedback really helped solidify my own understanding and build my confidence. The advanced content was also a chance to get into the nuances of the process and see how much you can tailor and remix to your needs. If you did the regular certification and all your neurons lit up and you were like, "I'm about to make this my whole deal," then you are exactly the type of person who would enjoy getting further down the rabbit hole and doing the Advanced certification.
It wasn't long after I learned about OOUX that I felt like it could be a missing piece of my skillset and practice as an early career UX designer drowning in complex problems to solve. I dove into the certification course almost right away, wanting to learn as much as possible, and proved myself right. Even with how rigorous it was, I could immediately feel the change in my thinking and the questions I was asking in my work. I also appreciate the level of support that was offered - the forum, a mentor, office hours, and the concierge to help track it all! I feel proud of completing the course and wish I would have found out about it even sooner in my career; it's probably the most relevant and impactful professional development I've gotten in UX design, especially as someone who started more on the UX research side of it. I'm excited to continue practicing it and applying it to my work.
