I totally clicked with Gabriela. She has a unique background in that she learned UX the ORCA way first, so I felt like I was getting really good feedback and direction from her. Also, even though it might not have mattered which mentor I was paired with, the fact that we had a mentor to provide pointed feedback on each assignment, challenging us to think about the exercise deeper, and to meet with a few times throughout the cohort was definitely critical to my success.
Gabriela was a pleasure to discuss with. She is willing to share tips and feedback. She also took the time to find metaphors to help me make sense of some concepts. Thanks for helping me succeed (no matter what) in tackling this first step of my OOUX journey.
Discovering OOUX in 2015 was a game-changer for my product design journey, providing a solid foundation that has shaped my approach ever since. Becoming a certified strategist in 2020 with the ORCA process expanded my toolkit, empowering me to confidently address complex challenges and be an integral part of early conversations with product managers and engineers. Now, with the recent course completion and upcoming re-certification this year, I'm excited about the new insights gained and confident in making an even bigger impact on my work. Grateful for the continuous evolution of my design philosophy.
Since 2016, OOUX has given me structure to breaking down UX problems, now with the ORCA process I not only have even more structure to this process, it also makes it easier for important questions to be raised, challenged, and understood by stakeholders earlier in the process.
"Complexity DOES NOT have to mean complicated...let's not use the excuse of complexity to build complicated products..." Gabriela Ospina gave a great talk at UXDX that is a PERFECT introduction to OOUX and the ORCA Process. If you've been curious about OOUX and want to hear about it from someone who has been using it on every project for many years, this is a perfect 20-minute primer!
